In a previous post I wrote that it was necessary to put JDeveloper in a separate MIDDLEWARE_HOME to get the AIA installation to work. This still holds true, but that actually also introduces a new known bug to which I found the solution at Oracle Support (ID: 1347861.1).
If you run into problems where you get the following error:
The problem is that the AIA installer creates a faulty classpath, so the solution/workaround for the problem is to do something like the following:
This a the solution described on Oracle Support and it worked for me.

The problem is that the AIA installer creates a faulty classpath, so the solution/workaround for the problem is to do something like the following:
# mkdir -p $JDEV_MIDDLEWARE_HOME/oracle_common/soa/modules/oracle.soa.mgmt_11.1.1
# cp $MIDDLEWARE_HOME/oracle_common/soa/modules/oracle.soa.mgmt_11.1.1/soa-infra-mgmt.jar $JDEV_MIDDLEWARE_HOME/oracle_common/soa/modules/oracle.soa.mgmt_11.1.1/soa-infra-mgmt.jar
# mkdir -p $JDEV_MIDDLEWARE_HOME/oracle_common/BC4J/jlib
# cp $MIDDLEWARE_HOME/oracle_common/BC4J/jlib/commons-cli-1.0.jar $JDEV_MIDDLEWARE_HOME/oracle_common/BC4J/jlib/commons-cli-1.0.jar
